Bleeding Meckel’s diverticulum ================================ * David P. Girvan A 4-year-old child presented with dark red rectal bleeding mixed with some clots. The bleeding stopped spontaneously. The hemoglobin level was 95 g/L. Meckel’s scanning (Fig. 1) was positive for ectopic gastric mucosa in the right lower quadrant. At laparotomy, a Meckel’s diverticulum was evident (Fig. 2) and was resected. The gross specimen (Fig. 3) showed a well-demarcated ulcer at the junction of the diverticulum and ileum. The tip of the diverticulum contained gastric mucosa (Fig. 4). ![FIG. 1](http://canjsurg.ca/https://www.canjsurg.ca/content/cjs/39/1/8/F1.medium.gif) [FIG. 1](http://canjsurg.ca/content/39/1/8/F1) FIG. 1 ![FIG. 2](http://canjsurg.ca/https://www.canjsurg.ca/content/cjs/39/1/8/F2.medium.gif) [FIG. 2](http://canjsurg.ca/content/39/1/8/F2) FIG. 2 ![FIG. 3](http://canjsurg.ca/https://www.canjsurg.ca/content/cjs/39/1/8/F3.medium.gif) [FIG. 3](http://canjsurg.ca/content/39/1/8/F3) FIG. 3 ![FIG. 4](http://canjsurg.ca/https://www.canjsurg.ca/content/cjs/39/1/8/F4.medium.gif) [FIG. 4](http://canjsurg.ca/content/39/1/8/F4) FIG. 4 ## Footnotes * Managers: David P.
