Position description
The McGill Division of General Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is currently seeking applications for a Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) in the Division of General Surgery, located at St. Mary's Hospital. The successful candidate will be a general surgeon with additional fellowship training in Surgical Oncology or Breast Surgery.
The successful candidate will join a group of five general surgeons with expertise in oncology as well as colorectal, foregut and hernia surgery. With 316 beds, St. Mary's Hospital is a McGill University-affiliated community teaching hospital with a large oncology section, excelling in the teaching of medical students and general surgery residents.

Job Duties
This is a full-time clinical position. Applicants are expected to dedicate time to clinical duties such as outpatient clinics, participate in tumor board, perform surgery and take general surgery calls. The candidate is expected to participate in educational and academic activities of the Division and Residency Program, as well as supervision of medical students and residents.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:
- have completed an approved general surgery residency;
- have attained certification in general surgery;
- hold an MD, be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec;
- have completed advanced training in surgical oncology and/or breast surgery fellowship;
- bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire these language skills at the level needed to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
- fulfil the requirements for the Office Québécois de la Langue Française (OQLF).
