Locum General Surgeon

Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) is seeking a Locum General Surgeon to be a part of our Acute Care Surgery schedule for one year, starting on July 1, 2023.  The locum would be responsible for covering the ACS service approximately every seventh week.  This would include on-call responsibilities for the entire weekend, 7am-4pm during the week, as well as the Thursday night.  Each week comes with two half days of dedicated ACS operating room time, as well as access to emergency time in the endoscopy suite.  The successful candidate must be a RCPSC certified General Surgeon, licensed to practice in Ontario.

CMH is a busy 190-bed community hospital, with a tight-knit and collegial medical staff.  A Capital Redevelopment Project is well underway.  A new wing including a state-of-the-art Operating Room, Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit were completed in 2020.  Construction is currently underway to completely refurbish the remaining inpatient units.  CMH features a high-volume Emergency Room, a closed ICU, RCPSC Anesthesia, an Oncology Clinic and a full complement of medical and surgical subspecialties.  This is further supported by Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services, including CT, MRI and 24/7 Radiology coverage.  We are affiliated with the Waterloo Campus of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, McMaster University and regularly participate in teaching medical students and residents.
