AB  - Long wait times for elective surgery in Canada have been a persistent problem for many years and the recent pandemic has made the situation substantially worse. Current evidence suggests that ambulatory surgery centres are more cost-effective and efficient in the delivery of ambulatory surgical services than larger institutions. We explore the merits of a network of publicly funded ambulatory surgery centres.
