Outpatient thyroidectomy: a feasibility study

Am J Surg. 1986 Oct;152(4):417-9. doi: 10.1016/0002-9610(86)90315-6.

Abstract

In a group of 48 highly selected patients, thyroid surgery was performed on an outpatient basis. It was found to be a safe, cost-effective procedure, convenient for both the patient and the surgeon. Economic factors, although definitely a consideration, were not the compelling reason to perform thyroidectomy in this manner.
