A 42-year-old woman presented to her family physician with a history of progressive pain in the right hip joint and proximal femur. The pain was worse on weight bearing. The only other significant finding was that she had recently undergone a mastectomy for breast cancer. A plain radiograph of the pelvis revealed multiple lucent lesions within the pelvis and proximal femur (Fig. 1). On the basis of the radiographic findings, magnetic resonance imaging of the area was carried out. Fig. 2 is a representative coronal T1-weighted image. Fig. 3 is a representative coronal fSTIR (fast fat suppressed short tau inversion recovery) image.
