A 14-year-old boy presented with a 3-month history of left upper quadrant abdominal pain and fever. There was no history of nausea, vomiting or change of bowel habit or of abdominal trauma.
On examination, a mass was palpable in the left upper quadrant. The boy’s abdomen was soft and non-tender. Bowel sounds were present. Laboratory investigations showed eosinophilia. The findings on chest radiography were normal. The boy underwent abdominal ultrasonography (Fig. 1) and computed tomography (Fig. 2).
